My first month today!!!

Posted In: NEWS, The days in my life by User Imagebarb (Who am I?)

It has been one month today since the start of Bananas and Berries. And In honor of this, I would love to celebrate!!!

To all of the readers that have followed my every post (or at least some of them) and to those who have just found Bananas and Berries through a mutual site; thank you. It is because of you that I felt I should show much gratitude.

I was lucky enough to stumble across a website not too long ago that was having an awe-inspiring giveaway (I was randomly chosen as the winner by the way). This enabled me to start my very own blog site along with a few other sites that are still in the works at the moment. Although I didn’t know how good of friends we’d become at the time; I entered this particular giveaway at Keith James Lock’s site. I couldn’t help but enter since one of my passions are entering giveaways. The grand total prize value was over 1900.00 (the contest is over now, but you could check out the prize list at keithjameslock.com). I am thrilled about the whole outcome to this point. I have made it through the first month and have been working my butt off to get here. I am so proud to say that I’ve made it to my first month!!! Yippy, wahoo, wowza!!!! (this is me celebrating…LOL)!!!

Now, don’t run off just yet; this isn’t the end of my celebration…with all the hype about winning a giveaway and celebrating, you can’t think that this was all to my celebration. I wouldn’t just post a story of winning something great without at least offering you guys something too. Now, I’ve got a few things in the works right now (the usual how to enter, jotting down/ implimenting the prize list and so on), but let me fill you in on something: its going to be sweat!!! That is all I’m saying at this point (I can’t spoil the prize giveaway post yet). You’ve gotta keep checking back because in the next few days to a week I will be posting the big event. If you are a forgetful person like me; join my RSS feed and get the latest information and news about my giveaway when it’s posted.

NOTE: If you’d like to sponsor a prize in this giveaway please contact me shortly and I will gladly add it to the list. I can be reached at: barb@bananasandberries.com

Well, that’s it; those are 100 things about me.

I got this idea from one of the blogs I love to visit; Metropolitan Mama (thanks Stephanie). I think Stephanie has great things to write about and I get inspired by what she has to say. She’s always got something fun to read and many great prizes to giveaway (I’d love to do this too, very soon).

Now for the fun part, it’s your turn (that’s if you’re up for the challenge)!!! The list doesn’t have to be perfect, but have fun with it. It’s always entertaining to read about other people and how they are. Their likes and dislikes, their personalities and the details we all love to hear. I didn’t have a perfect childhood and was a little scared about writing this post. I wanted it to be personal but very truthful too…I decided to go for it, and this is the end result. It’s not a glamorous life, but it is and has been my life and I do appreciate that you took the time to read it. Thanks for that.

Finally played the Wii

Posted In: All about the kids, The days in my life by User Imagebarb (Who am I?)
Victory!!!!

Victory!!!!

All eyes on me!
All eyes on me!

Last night my kids and I went over to a really close friend’s house for a barbieQ-birthday party. Of course they’ve got all the latest gadgets for the Wii and have many controllers along with games, games and more games. I watched for a while and had so much fun, but the waiting didn’t last long. Soon I found myself playing right along with them. I was first challenged to Mario cart by my son Cj and then it was off to boxing…WOW what a workout!!! My arms are now very sore but it was so much fun. I can’t believe how much of a workout you get from this game. Anyways, my son DID beat me and showed us his wonderfully victorious victory stance…

I tell you, if you don’t have a Wii yet…YOU’VE GOT TO GO OUT AND GET ONE, PRONTO!!! There is so much that you can do with the system. There are so many games and extra accessories you can have to make the game that much more fun. My friend Angie had the car wheels, the extra handles for boxing, the bats, tennis rackets, and all of the other stuff you’d want. I can honestly say that I am addicted to the Wii. I’ve joined the clan of Wii fans out there and am proud of it.

The birthday boy Larry (just turned 30…awe…he’s still a baby) had a few turns at boxing my son too, only this time my son couldn’t win to save his life; Serves him right for being a bully to his mom (LOL). All and all it was a fun day. We ate some awesome food, watched the kids play on the trampoline, ate some more food and ended the night with the Wii. I couldn’t complain…it was all fun!!

I thought I’d messed up for good!

Posted In: The days in my life by User Imagebarb (Who am I?)
My happy face

My happy face

Well, after a very stress filled evening that followed me into this morning; I could now take a deep breath and thank the Great service Rep at GoDaddy for helping me through the horrible situation I dug myself into last night. I was initially trying to up grade the back end of my blog. Basically trying to make things easier for me but instead deleted files and folders that should have never been touched. I was so upset last night that I couldn’t even use my brain for good (LOL). This morning I woke up praying that what I did last night would have fixed itself, but NO…I came back to what was just a reality check of what “I don’t know” when it comes to computers. After a little more trial and error (along with a lot more digging myself into a whole), I decided to call GoDaddy and they so kindly washed away all the dumb moves I did last night.

Now my site is back where it was before I messed up and the upgrade is there (go figure). I am now going to think twice about taking things into my own hands when I have no clue of what I’m doing. I have always had a problem with jumping into things and skimming over directions rather than really READING what needs to be done. I can now say that I’VE LEARNED MY LESSON! Now, I’m a happy camper!!!

Have you ever done anything you wish you hadn’t done (when it comes to computers)? Am I like the only one that is crazy enough to do things without truly READING directions given? I guess I can’t complain too much that I messed up; I’ve actually learned plenty from this situation. I know that there is always a way to fix things that are out of control no matter what the situation. This is just one more thing to add to my list of “know how’s”….hahaha.

Well, now that this episode is over, on to the next endeavor…maybe this time it’ll be a little smoother. Have a great day and dont forget to come back and see all the other situations I get myself into…I might have to write a book about it one day (Just kidding).

Today’s the day I got the Packing removed

Posted In: The days in my life by User Imagebarb (Who am I?)

It was an agonizing day; for today was the day the doctor would take that horrible packing out of my arm, but I had to wait until my husband was through working. It was five days total that I had to endure going back and forth to the hospital for a bite that would not heal. It was a big relief when I walked in today and saw my doctor waiting for me…he took me right in and it was just a matter of minutes before I was out of the hospital, clear of any object protuding from my arm aside from a bandage they put over the wound to prevent my arm from becoming reinfected from something else. I know this is a short post but I couldn’t go through the whole day without showing you my lovely pictures. I think my webcam worked better than yesterday. ENJOY!
